Iona Trinity College of Higher Education
celebrates new beginning with
inaugural service and lecture
8 March 2025
Iona Trinity College of Higher Education (ITC) has marked an important milestone in its establishment with the celebration of its inaugural service and lecture on Saturday 8 March 2025, at ITC’s North Parramatta campus.
The event followed the commencement of ITC’s first academic semester earlier in the week on Monday 3 March 2025, welcoming its first cohort of students.
The service and lecture were attended by members of the college’s governing board, academic leadership, Korean community members and ministers, students of Iona Columba College, and invited guests. Held in the educational precinct ITC shares with United Theological College, the occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on the college’s mission and purpose.
The event featured the inaugural lecture delivered by ITC’s founding principal, Reverend Dr Sang Taek Lee, titled “A Theology of Living: Journey through Embedded, Deliberative and Embodied Theology.” In his lecture, Reverend Dr Lee spoke of the importance of reflection, learning and dialogue in theological and counselling education, encouraging students to “discover, learn and be free.”
Founded with a commitment to providing ecumenical and non-denominational higher education, ITC aims to prepare its students to contribute positively to their communities. The college’s programs in theology and counselling are designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills and wisdom to serve with compassion, purpose and meaning.
The inaugural service and lecture mark the first of many milestones as ITC embarks on its journey of learning, service and community engagement. The college is eager to nurture its first cohort of students throughout the semester and continue its mission as a place of learning, dialogue and transformation.
